Thanks for picking up on FrontlineSMS and helping spread the word to other non-profits. As you say, the software is being used around the world for a range of activities, most recently in Zimbabwe.

You can read about its use there at http://www.blogspot.kiwanja.net/2008/04/kubatana-reaches-out-with-frontlinesms.html

"The World" also interviewed Kubatana on 9th April about their use of FrontlineSMS, which you can listen to at http://www.theworld.org/audio/0409084.mp3

The logic behind FrontlineSMS was to provide an entry level, standard platform which NGOs could use, and then for their efforts to be easily replicated by others who hear about it. Right now we're building a new version, so be sure to keep an eye out on the www.frontlinesms.com website for details. The new release is going to significantly build on the basic functionality of the first, and it's being tested by a range of global non-profits as we speak.

Thanks again.

Michelle -- thanks for the plug! Also note that we did a comparison of tools like Frontline that includes some others that have been used for systematic election monitoring with volunteers (different methodology than Nigeria). The comparison of low-cost sms tools for grassroots campaigns is here: http://mobileactive.org/mobileactive-releases-do-it-yourself-sms-guide-ngos

And on election monitoring using mobiles, see this: http://mobileactive.org/texting-it-in

Thanks again!
